Archangel's Kiss

Archangel's Kiss is a paranormal romance by Nalini Singh, published in 2010. Its heroine, Elena Deveraux, is a vampire hunter who wakes from a coma that lasted a year. and the change happened while she was unconscious, which is part of the difficulty.

What she finds is that she has been changed. She is an angel now, with wings the colours of midnight and dawn, and her body is fragile enough that it needs time to heal before she can take flight at all.

Her lover is Raphael, an archangel described as stunningly dangerous and used to being in control, including of the woman he considers his own. Elena has never done well with authority, which is the difficulty between them.

The two have barely begun to understand each other when Raphael receives an invitation to a ball from the archangel Lijuan, and refusing it is not an option. The novel is about a new angel learning what her body can do while being drawn into the politics of beings much older than she is.
