Angels Fall
Reece Gilmore is the only survivor of a violent crime back east, and she has come to a small town in Wyoming to work in a diner and be somewhere nobody knows her.
About
Angels Fall is a romantic suspense novel by the American writer Nora Roberts, published in 2006.
Reece Gilmore survived a crime that killed the people she was with, and she has come to Angel's Fist, a town in Wyoming, intending to stay only long enough to put herself back together. She takes a job at the local diner and keeps her distance from the people who want to know about her, and the man she eventually begins to talk to is a writer who has been keeping to himself in the same way. What changes the book is a walk in the mountains: through her binoculars she sees a man strangling a woman on the bank of the Snake River, and when she gets help to the place the pair are gone and there is no evidence that anything happened. The novel then has to do with whose account of the town is credible, and with a woman who has already been disbelieved once in her life. Roberts writes it as a romance as much as a mystery, and the town's reaction to her is part of the problem she has to solve.
