About
Almost Like Being in Love is a romance novel by the American writer Christina Dodd, published in 2004. It is the second book of her Lost Hearts series.
Pepper Prescott was the middle child of the family, and her rebellious nature is what carried her through being separated from her siblings and sent to foster homes around the country after their parents disappeared.
She is an independent young woman now, and she finds herself on the run after witnessing a shooting. Fearing for her life, she flees to the only place she has ever considered home, a remote mountain ranch, and is startled to find Dan Graham living there, an old lover of hers she had not expected to see again.
Dan is a battle-hardened former Special Forces soldier, and he does not look to her like a man she can trust with her secrets, her life or her love. What follows is the two of them working at the mysteries of her past together, and it turns out that coming back may have been the only way for her to get her own life back.
