14th Deadly Sin

14th Deadly Sin is a thriller by James Patterson, published in 2015 and part of the Women's Murder Club sequence. Its central character, Detective Lindsay Boxer, has a baby daughter and a devoted husband.

Her life has never been better, and for once the same is true of the other members of the group, who gather to celebrate the birthday of the San Francisco medical examiner Claire Washburn. The party is cut short when Lindsay is called out.

The scene she is taken to is that of a woman murdered in broad daylight. As she investigates, video footage of another crime surfaces, and the case stops looking like an isolated killing and begins to look like something with a pattern behind it. She is the one who has to work out whether the two crimes belong to the same hand.

The novel is the fourteenth entry in the sequence, and it turns on the club's friendship being tested by a case that arrives in the middle of the best period any of them has had.
